Plan was to get to Hill of Glansie, but at the bottom of Shank Hill I realised that I had forgotten to put my knee straps on. Last thing I want right now is to flare up my old outside knee pain so I decide not to push to far and walked 90 mins to the 722m top the back down.
Tried out the new Montane Icarus Stretch for 1st time as it was cold and windy and a bit of a winter day even for the end of April.
Caught in a slight sleet shower around Shank hill, then a heavier one at Balbui and it was coping great with the wet sleet.
As it was so cold at the top I thought I wait for cover to have lunch and stopped on way back at the flattened area with man-made banks all round on Shank Hill, so I got a bit cover from the wind, BUT the snow was quite heavy and decided to put on the new Rab Phantom lightweight waterproof.
After lunch I kept the Rab on as it was still quite cold. I had a cold feeling on my back and neck due to the wind, but hot on the front - I wasn't sure if it was the Rab jackets breathability or the direct sunlight that had by this time appeared. The jury is out!
Back pain was not bothering me too much on the walk up. If anything it was the pulled muscle at the LHS of my rib cage down that was made worse down the fence that was given jip.
BUT, the next day my lower back/SI Joint was really stiff and achy!
